Chapter 12: The Thieves of Dakia

Main objective: Take the mansion

You can see each enemy’s inventory by placing the cursor over his image on the map. = Has the "Steal" skill.
The darkest tiles on the main forest indicate areas that most of your units will not be able to pass through on foot.

In order to go to the following optional chapter: You must complete this chapter in less than 20 turns.

• Items/Villages/Treasure:
- Ambush manual (steal from Colho).
- In order to get any one of these items from a house, its corresponding child must have escaped in Chapter 11x:
1. Silence staff
2. Heim scroll
3. Medicine* (or Magic Ring, if you visit with Olwen).
*Happens regardless of whether you saved the kids or not.
• Shop:
- Medicine 600
- Door key 500
- Wind 2200
- Fire 2200
- Torch 500
• New units:
- Mareeta (swordfighter) joins at the start of Turn 2.
- Salem (lopto Mage): Joins in the next chapter if you capture him.
• Enemy reinforcements:
- Turns 4 to 12, approximately: 2 Mountain thieves. They'll stop appearing if you defeat the warrior boss.

• Special Event:
- Talks: A Magic Ring: Rosa (girl) must escape in Ch. 11x, then visit the house 3 with Olwen.

• General Strategy:
- Minimum number of units you can use: 8
- Maximum number of units: 12 + 1 (Turn 2)

You've arrived in Dakia, a forest close to Tahra, which is a city that you need to rescue. Here you'll be faced with yet another group of bandits, but these guys are a little different than the ones you've faced before. Anyway, this chapter is the same as the previous chapter since it too has Fog of War, so you should know in advance that you need some torches. You can also use the Torch staff. For this chapter, I don't recommend using horse-mounted units because, as you can see, there's a lot of forest and they can't move easily. I also don't recommend using Saphy in this chapter, especially if you think she'll get a lot of fatigue since you'll need her for Chapter 12 Gaiden. And save for a thief one of your stamina drinks (if you need to – if not, don't use the thief much since you'll need him for Chapter 12x too).

Try to limit your unit selections to Karin, the Pegasus girl who can help the villages, and any others that can use swords. Other than that, bring the necessary torches and some Holy waters (those things that raise your magic) because one of the bosses will attack you with the Sleep staff and at the moment you don't have anything that can cure sleep status. And if you're out of Holy waters, just make sure all of your units' magic is 8 or higher since in this game status changes last for the ENTIRE chapter, and when staves are used to these status changes, they only work on units that have a lower magic stat than the staff wielder. So in this case, if your units have a magic stat of at least 8, Salem's staff won't work. It also seems that Salem won't use his staff if you don't use your torch to light up the forest, and is less likely to use it on a unit that's in the forest…

At first you'll be attacked by the hidden enemy units; get rid of them as soon as possible because some of them can destroy the nearby houses. By the way, I marked one of the thieves because he has a Bridge Key, the item that can repair bridges, since as you can see the broken bridge is the ONLY way to get to the other side of the map if you don't have flying units or Lockpicks. Make sure you steal it.

At the beginning of Turn 2, Mareeta will leave from house 3 in order to help you on the other side of the map. She's phenomenal (like the Ira of the game) and can help you plenty with the enemy reinforcements that will appear later. Once she's on the other side, all you have to do is get her to the boss. Remember to buy some torches if you don't have any.

Once 20 turns have passed, Dorias will tell you some stuff and the map will clear up (but the game will play the extremely irritating "bad event" song). Good luck.

This guy is pretty easy and will remain stationary in one part of the map. It's a good idea to steal the manual that he brought with him. With this manual, you can obtain the skill "Ambush", which allows you to attack first in any battle.

He's very easy, but his staff makes him kind of annoying. If you capture him, he'll join you in Chapter 12x.
