Chapter 15: The two rutes

Main objective: Pick a route. There are two ways to do this: enter the church with Leaf and choose, or place him on one of the blue arrows.

(Ralf and Amalda appear at the end of Turn 1 and move as soon as they appear)
You can see each enemy’s inventory by placing the cursor over his image on the map.

• Items/Villages/Treasure:
• Shop:
• Special Event:
• New units:
1. Skill ring
2. Armour slayer
3. Killer lance
4. Ulir scroll
- Restore staff (when the chapter ends, if you visit the church to complete the chapter)
- Medicine 600
- Antidote 1500
- Door key 500
- Torch 500
Mareeta obtains the Shooting Star Sword skill if she talks with Shanam (Turn 11). If one of your units stands on his tile, he will not appear.
- Ralf (mercenary), joins when you talk to him with Leaf.

• Enemy reinforcements (they'll still show up, even if you beat the boss):
- Turns 1 to 10: 2 Mountain thieves and a Hunter, on the fortresses at the north end of the map.
- Turns 4 to 6, approximately: 1 Mountain thief on the left fortress.
- Turns 11 to 15: 2 thieves and a swordfighter (northern forts; Shanam will appear on the first turn).
- Turns 16 to 18: 3 warriors on the northern fortresses.
- Turns 19, 20: 1 Mountain thief, a hunter, and a thief on the northern fortresses.

• General Strategy:
- Minimum number of units you can use: 6
- Maximum number of units: 12 + 1 (recruitable)

This chapter is relatively easy. A little annoying because of the reinforcements, but easy nonetheless. The idea of this mission isn't to leave by the two arrows. Instead, your job is to either select one of them (each arrow represents a different route) or enter the church with Leaf, where you'll be able to choose 1 of 2 routes. If you decide to choose via the arrows, don't worry about placing Leaf on them first; if you do that in this chapter, you'll still have all of your units at the start of the next chapter (unlike the escape maps, where any units that don't leave ahead of Leaf are presumed lost).
One route will take you to Lenster by Fort Norden (left) and the other will take you to Lenster by Melfiye Forest (right). Personally, I like the right route more because of all the rare items, but it's your decision; the left route the more complicated of the two.

Anyway, you have to move pretty quickly in order to protect the houses that are in the center of the map, since the bandits will destroy them. For this same reason, I recommend taking your flying units (use them to transport some of your units and take them to the houses), and also some staff users, your best swordfighters (Mareeta), and also some mages.

As for the other units you'll send out to take care of the nearby bandits, it would be a good idea if you sent two swordfighters near the house that's on the left of the map. The reason for that is because more reinforcements will come from the fortress on that side of the map. Also stay away from the boss so that he doesn't bother you; you can kill him when you have everything under control, there's no rush.
After the first turn ends, Ralf and Amalda will leave from the church to help you; they can kill some bandits. In this chapter you can recruit Ralph, but not Amalda, who will actually leave once you've recruited Ralph. The reinforcements are excellent for training, especially the Warriors that appear later on. But before that, like sometime around Turn 11, Shanam will appear from the northern fortresses, and you have to get to him quickly and talk to him with Mareeta (so you can gain a special skill), since he'll begin to flee. If you kill Shanam here, he won't appear again in the next chapter 16B, so be careful.

In the villages you'll find excellent weapons, and also another scroll.

Kill him when you've gotten rid of the reinforcements, since by nature he's really annoying (in addition to the fact that he can poison you).
You can also put him to sleep with Salem's staff and make the fight a bit easier. You can't capture him.

Buy some goodies from the shop and afterward go to the church with Leaf. Here Leaf will have 3 conversations with the priest, in the first he'll give you thanks, and in addition he'll give you a Restore staff that can cure status ailments like sleep, berserk, and poison. After you'll get a second conversation where he'll ask where you're going, and later you'll get the third dialog where he'll tell you to pick one of the two paths. Fort Nohrden is the first choice, and Melfiye Forest is below that. As I said, choose whichever one you want.
