Chapter 21: Liberation Wars

Main objective: Take the castle

You can see each enemy’s inventory by placing the cursor over his image on the map.

In order to go to the following optional chapter: One of your units must have been captured at some point during the game. If that hasn't happened,
leave an unarmed unit near the dragons (and nothing else); that unit will be captured and left behind when the dragon unit leaves the map.

• Items/Villages/Treasure:
1. Holy water
2. Silver sword
- Holy Water (if you enter the church with someone other than Linoan – see below).
• Armory:
- Silver sword 4200
- Silver lance 4000
- Silver axe 4200
- Silver bow 4000
• Shop:
- Medicine 600
- Antidote 1500
- Thunder 3200
- Wind 2200

• Special Event:
- Talks: You have to take Linoan to the church so that she can promote. YOU CANNOT VISIT THE CHURCH WITH LINOAN IF YOU ALREADY VISITED WITH SOMEONE ELSE. In other words, you cannot get the Holy Water and promote Linoan at the same time.

• New units:
- Delmud (Forrest knight). He joins at the start of the chapter if Nanna is alive.

• Enemy reinforcements:
- Turn 2 to 7, approximately: 2 Soldiers on the marked fortresses.
- Turn 6 to 10, approximately: 1 Mage knight, 2 Axe knights, 1 Bow knight, 1 Lance knight and 1 Paladin on the right side of the map.
- Turn 7 to 10, approximately: 2 Dark mages near one of the ballistae.

• General Strategy:
- Minimum number of units you can use: 8 + 1 (joins at the start)
- Maximum number of units: 16 + 1 (at the start)

This is a really tough chapter. The map is full of ballistae, but if you look closely you'll notice that some of them are a different type. Those ones are Poison Arches – that is, they poison on contact. The good thing is that they have low strength and hit compared to other ballistae. So when you choose your units, give them some antidotes for the poison, and make sure you choose units with high avoid; with help from Nanna's and Delmud's skills, the King Sword, and supports, it's possible you might not need the antidotes at all.
The best way to approach this chapter is to choose your toughest units because here you have to move quickly since all the reinforcements that appear later will be a bit overwhelming. Also you'll need Linoan since this is the only chapter where she can promote (you have to go to the church for that). By the way, at the start of the chapter, Delmud will also join your cause, assuming Nanna isn't dead. Delmud is Nanna's older brother, who also brings the Beo Sword and can help you out a lot (but if for some reason you use Felgus… he can also use the sword).

So anyway, when you begin the chapter, do the following: send one group to the right side of the map (in the direction of the church) and the other group down below (in the direction of the squadron of dragons). That way, you'll cover more ground and will be able to do a better job keeping the reinforcements occupied. Be sure that you have in each group at least one unit who can deal with the dragons… they can direct their attacks at either group.
When you advance, try not to expose the units with low HP to the ballistae. I hope you have a Sleep or Restore staff on hand just in case, since there's a Priest who has a Sleep staff and will use it against your units. The best thing to do is to just send him to sleep with the Sleep staff so you can just take his later. It won't help you to silence him since he'll just run away. And there's nothing in the houses that's really worth it, since you can just buy the Silver Sword in the shop, along with other stuff of course.

The dragon squadron won't move from its position unless you approach them. These guys can cause problems for you since they all have Horseslayers, which you should know all about by now; they can cause a large amount of damage to your mounted units. Also, they have the Prayer skill, which makes them a little tougher to defeat. The good thing is that when you kill the boss they all run away, so make the most of the chance to kill him when you have it. The boss is very simple so I doubt that you'll have any trouble dealing with him. If you want you can simply put him to sleep so that he won't cause any problems. There's a Coliseum nearby too, but it's probably a good idea to hold off until everything is calm here.

Just getting to this guy a challenge. To begin with, there's a group of ballistae nearby, and there's also a bishop with Thunderstorm, and the boss is equipped with Blizzard, which is a long-range spell that sends you to sleep on contact. You can tilt things in your favor a little bit by occupying the forest tiles to increase your avoid (already using supports, and the Charisma skill from Delmud, Nanna and the King Sword), but it still comes down to luck. The boss himself is really easy after you get him to use up his spell: if you have a thief you can just send him in to steal the boss's staff and Tornado spell, which is really powerful. Or if you want you can also capture him.
After that, you can peacefully train at the coliseum. Also take advantage of this opportunity to buy some weapons and items. And later, after you're all done, simply conquer the castle.
