Chapter 24: Baron of Evil

Important: The one who can open the door to the room with the Kia Staff is one of the 4 boys (not girls!); you cannot open it any other way, and it seems that the child who can open it is randomly chosen. Whichever child (among the green units) holds the key, he can open the door only after Turn 5. Even if you transport all of them to the door on Turn 1, they won't stop running around in circles like a bunch of idiots until Turn 5 begins.
Main objective: Take the throne

In order to go to the following optional chapter: Get the Kia Staff, and keep Sara alive and on your team.

You can see each enemy’s inventory by placing the cursor over his image on the map.

• Items/Villages/Treasure:
1. Kia staff (one of the kids has the key to open the door)

• Secret shop (only accessible with Member Card):
- Life ring 8000
- Speed ring 8000
- Skill ring 8000
- Power ring 8000
- Defense ring 8000

• New units:
- Galzus (Mercenary). Speak to him with Mareeta to recruit him.

• Enemy reinforcements:
- Turn 2 to 5: 2 Soldiers (right entrance).
- Turn 8: 1 Dark mage (above Reidrick).
- Turn 10 to 20: 2 Dark mages (left and right sides of the throne).
- Turn 20: 1 Thief (stairs)
- 2 Dark Mages when you open the uppermost door on the map (in the stairs inside) and every turn afterward (forever? they show up for at least 50 turns and appear past Turn 100...).

• General Strategy:
- Minimum number of units you can use: 10
- Maximum number of units: 18 + 1 (recruitable)
- Important: If you are playing with the English translation patch, don't place the cursor above the Mercenaries (units similar to Galzus) unless you disabled the option that allows units' statistics to be displayed when you place the cursor over them. This bug will cause the game to freeze.

This chapter takes place inside Manster Castle, the same place you visited in the early chapters. On the throne is your old friend Reidrick, who can't escape this time.

Well, same as the previous chapters: as usual, pick your best staff users and make sure they're equipped with staves like Restore, Silence, Sleep, Rescue, and Warp (Rescue and Warp staves will be especially useful since your group will be split in three), etc. You'll need them since there are some 4 Dark Mages enclosed in a room that can attack you instantly (those Dark Mages are indicated by yellow circles on the map; one of them has a Restore staff to cure the others). You can silence them or put them to sleep; either way they won't run away, and the chapter will become much less complicated. Oh, and also make sure you bring Mareeta since she can talk to Galzus.

If, at the start of the chapter, your units don't appear where you want… try to arrange them following the numbers indicated on the map: each unit will appear in a particular location depending on the order in which they are on the preparations screen. If you select a unit using this method, it's possible to completely change your units' locations, though it might not turn out exactly the way you wanted.

It's also necessary to bring your best thieves with you and a good stash of keys for the doors. Another thing: if in Chapter 18 you got the Member Card, you can use it in this chapter. How? Well look at the red square outlined on the upper part of the map. You can get there with a Warp or Re-warp staff. Then, open that door with a thief or key and if you bring the Member Card with you, then you can buy a lot of Rings to raise your units' stats.

The secret shop. Best to send Shanam if you have him, since he can buy everything at half price. If you don't want to warp someone over, use the following error.

At the beginning of this chapter, your team is divided into three groups… those on the right side of the map are the most affected since all of the enemies are nearby and they won't hesitate to kill your units. Use a high-magic unit as a shield for the Dark Mages, and use an antidote if they poison you.

Before going after Reidrick and Galzus, rescue all the trapped kids. This is REALLY important because one of the kids has the key to open the main door where you'll find the Kia Staff. This staff can only be used by Sara and is the only staff that can cure petrification ("Stone"). By the way, after obtaining said staff, you'll automatically go to Chapter 24 Gaiden, where you'll have to cure Eyvel.

The next thing is to make sure you get rid of all the reinforcements. But don't open the door to Leidrick if you don't have good units there since all the enemies next to him (including Galzus) will begin to attack (but Galzus will follow shortly behind the others, allowing them to cover him). You can do this once the whole map is clear and I say this specifically for dealing with the reinforcements.
As I said before, one of the boys (not the girls) has the key to open the main door. This kid won't escape like others at the beginning, and will go to open the door immediately. Remain close to the door because an interminable amount of Dark Mages will appear from the stairs. You can block the stairs once inside and later open the chest peacefully.

The other enemies on the map, especially those in Galzus's group, have excellent weapons, so capture them if you can. There are also 2 mercenaries; one has a Sleep Sword (to put your enemies to sleep) and the other has a Berserk Sword (which can confuse your enemies). These weapons are really special and this chapter is really the only one in which you can get them easily. Anyway, once you have everything under control… open the main door to go after Reidrick, but before you do, make sure that Mareeta enters into the room too. If she's in another group use a Warp or Rescue staff.

Galzus will come after you when you open the door. If you don't have Mareeta, he'll be a tough opponent, especially because of all the skills that he has. In that case, attack him with your best mage or you can use staves like Sleep on him. If, however, you do have Mareeta, speak to him immediately and he'll join your team. Kill all the enemies in this room and also capture the 2 Bishops and rob their Restore staves.

And the last thing that's left is to face Reidrick. He seems pretty easy when you look at his stats, but you could say that he has an ace up his sleeve, and in particular it's the power of his sword that I'm referring to. Reidrick is the only one who can use the Lopto Sword; that is to say that you can't steal and use it. This sword gives him a huge boost to his magic (+20) and also has the ability to reduce an enemy's attack power by half (similar to the Loptousu spell in FE4). Basically, you'll do almost no damage attacking him with common magic spells and weak weapons. The only weapon capable of counteracting this effect is the Blaggi Sword, which was given to Leaf in the previous chapter. It's very effective against Reidrick, capable of killing him with a single hit.
But defeating him this way is boring… if you don't have said sword, you can use Mareeta or Galzus thanks to their Moonlight Sword skill, they can automatically negate the enemy's defenses. It's more emotional and special if you use Mareeta. But anyway, the idea is to defeat Reidrick at all costs.

Once you've done all that, make the most of the secret shop and buy all the rings you want. After that, conquer the throne. If you obtained the Kia staff, you'll go to Chapter 24x.
